Oppositions
to deconstruct
Our world, our language is made up of oppositions.
These oppositions have a curious relationship to each other. One way to achieve
an understanding of those oppositions is to analyse the spatially. Is, for
example, yes really the opposite of no? If it is, is that opposition
symmetrical, in the sense of left and right, or is it diametrical like a
head-on collision? Or is it more like a high and low difference? Does the one
exclude the other or merely push it aside a bit? The answers to these questions
are rarely as straightforward as you might think.
