In Claremont you drive past the pretty gingerbread houses of
Lime Hall, follow the serpentine road and suddenly you come into a
valley which is almost uninhabited: lusciously green, an English landscape, with gentle
round-topped hills. Et in Arcadia Ego.
On a small hill set against a large one, stands a greathouse. Winefield
Hall, a long horizontal stretch covered with a large low hipped roof. Behind
the house is a large concrete catchment area, which is also beautiful.
