Diary Monday 12th September 1994: Today is the 6th anniversary of Gilbert. The hurricane which virtually destroyed Jamaica. Talking to David Harrison about it he said that the hurricane had in fact improved the vegetation in the long term. All those leaves and branches blown off the trees being processed by the soil cause what was left to burst with a life it had no opportunity to display before.
